Before inquiring about a puppy from Emerald Creek, or any other breeder, please do some research on the American Staffordshire Terrier breed. They are not for every family or first time pet owner. They are terriers that require a lot of mental stimulation and a "firm hand" in training. If you have small children, please consider the energy levels and the puppy phase (chewing, rough play, etc), before considering this breed. AmStaffs are enough dog for everyone, and are too much for some. The breed is intelligent, loyal, and very willing to please its family. With much training and effort, you should have a well-rounded dog that will excel at most anything you ask of them. Your hard work will be very rewarding.
All Emerald Creek puppies will go to their new homes with age-appropriate vaccinations and dewormings, a microchip, dewclaws removed, a 60 day trial of pet health insurance, an AKC registration application (limited for companion pups), and a health certificate. New owners will also receive a new pet care package that contains a small bag of food the pups are on, at least one month of heartworm, flea, and tick preventative, and other goodies. All puppies are are dewormed every two weeks, and are started on a monthly heartworm preventative between 6-8 weeks of age. Puppies will be socialized (please check out our puppy program page, for more information), and will be introduced to kids, strangers, cats, dogs, chickens, goats, and rabbits.
All puppies are sold with a written contract that outlines your rights and our responsibilities. Puppies sold as companions must be neutered, at an appropriate age. Puppies sold as show/breeding prospects are placed on a co-ownership and must be health tested before being bred, at a minimum. We expect all new owners to treat their new puppy as a member of their family. We will replace your puppy if any major congenital health issues are found in the first 2 years of the dog's life. Emerald Creek also offers a lifetime temperament guarantee on all puppies that have completed obedience classes. We are, and will be, available any time for questions you may have about raising your puppy.
All sales are on a first come first serve basis and are only secured once a deposit is received. Deposits are $300 (which go towards the final price) and are generally non-refundable. However, they are transferable to a future puppy or litter of your choosing. Final puppy picks are made between 6-8 weeks of age. First pick male and female are usually reserved by myself. Companion puppies are generally $1200-$1500 and show potential puppies $1500-$2000. Occasionally, certain co-ownership arrangements may be made, depending on each situation. The price of the puppy does not include a crate or shipping costs.
If you are interested in an Emerald Creek puppy, please feel free to contact us at any time. If we don't have any available dogs or puppies at the time you inquire, we can add you to our mailing list to keep you updated on future plans. Our goal is to match you with the puppy that will meet your expectations and fit in well with your family. We ask you to please fill out the puppy questionnaire to the best of your ability, so we can find the best match for your home.
